Paper Tanks Battle - Another episode....German won again...

This time we tests new options in Game...

1. T-34/76 can't hit Tiger and Panther tank from front on long distance (wooden stick has two colors - orange is long distance). So it must find a way to drive and hit from side - or front but short distance. In future we are going to modify damages

2. When tank is hide by the wall and only Turret is visible - all damages such - tank track, engine - are similar to missed shoot.

This time David did preparation to game.

I decide to became Russian formation this time.

David became German..... I told him to change position of few tanks so he moved yellow Panther tank down on road....

Phase I - Movement.

T-34 tanks move one blue/dark color line (mount plate) on terrain or two lines on road.
Panther tank move same as T-34 tank.

Red lines on tank plates represent backward move.

Sherman move one blue/dark line (mount plate) on terrain and one and half on road. Same Tiger tank and SU-100.

STUG and Panzer III are one movement plate on terrain and one and half on road.

To start game we have to throw standard six number dice - this who throw bigger number - starts.

So my tanks starts... I decide to send Sherman and T-34/85 left flank - SU-100 and another T-34/85 right flank and platoon of T-34/76 on the middle...

As usually. My son decide to use chaos strategy....

When there is no chance to Aim / Target selection - we have to repeat Phase I - Movement. So typically looks like this:

Player throw dice (or flip of the coin) - player move. If distance to shoot is too big player throw again dice or coin and move again. With luck some player can be always second - which is good to create strategy.
Again Russian move first  so my opponent could plan his moves... First is not good option in Movement phase...

You can see how easy is to move.  Use stick to select front corner of mount plate (left side if you want to go forward left direction and right side if you need to move forward right direction) and move tank in desired direction.

If you plan to turn only put stick on middle (red/blue center plate and rotate tank in desired side). In future

I am going to create special triangle with stick so tank can turn only 120/90/60 degrees in one phase. Sound complicate but at least heavy tank will not turn 180 degrees in one move...

When we found that we are in range of first tanks - we can start Phase II - Aim / Target Selection.
Panzer IV can hit T-34/85 and David decide to hit that tank first Round. I selected his tank with my marker.

So if we finish phase II - target selection we throw dice again. If my will be higher - I shoot first...If....hahahaha....

My bad luck is that Panther and Tiger are 88 mm canons which found their targets... poor T-34/76 who can't shoot so far away...

My SU-100 is low profile and I could not find any target for him ... second Panther was hide after wall..

So I have one target and David found three target...

I shoot first and missed also David could shoot smoke grenades and hide - but he decide to shoot. Ricochet and I could shoot two smoke grenades and hide my tank in next movement phase.

So after First round both missed.

Lucky T-34/76 was hit first time with Ricochet with three smoke grenades which help protect tank from another hit...That smoke barrier stay till next Movement Phase and can be used for protection. So smoke barriers stays one Movement / Target Selection phase.

After shooting phase I had one engine hit (speed limited by half) - during next movement phase I can try ti fix it - if I pick correct numbers on token. If missed - can move only half speed.

Two other hits were missed and also I could use smoke grenades and build temporary smoke "shield" and hide my tanks from being targeted again.

Movement Phase -  German troops starts....

I am trying to hide my tanks on left flank in my movement phase...

In Target selection / Aiming Phase David found that two his tanks can reach my T-34/85 and P.IV will fight back T-34/76 with engine hit token...

Cross hit in details....

Long shoot from Panther tank missed my T-34 so I could move back and shoot three smoke grenades.

I was able to shoot first from my T-34/76 and P.IV lost his turret (can't shoot)... He can try to fix it during his next Movement Phase (NAPRAWA - FIX - throw dice - One or Four will fix turret and cannon).

Cross fire to my T-34/85 result  - first Turret (can't shoot) and Ricochet with two smoke grenade so  I could mask my position....

Movement Phase - I had to remove my smoke grenades from my previous phase and wait for German tanks to move first...

My two tanks selected poor P.IV with damaged turret and his target but meanwhile STUG found a straight hit to my SU-100 (selected as first target - first shooting round).

So first round - STUG Aim SU-100 and my second T-34/76 aim P.IV. That person who throw higher score - shoot first.

David found that his Tiger can shoot over the wall to my T-34/85... and Panther selected again
T-34/76 who had to remove his smoke barrier...

Shooting phase. German starts. Lucky STUG hit my SU-100.

I was lucky too and after lost my SU-100 I was able to destroy his P.IV. Round One finished....

Round Two - Panther tank destroyed my T-34/76...

View from Panther tank....

Movement Phase - Russian starts. Trying to pass building and use 76 mm Sherman cannon which is good enough for any tanks.

Right Flank - trying to advance with my last T-34 tanks...

David didn't move much.. he already see that his troops are in better shape than mine..
You can see range for 76 mm cannon from Sherman and how far T-34 can shoot... So my target will be German T-34.

Classic fight... My T-34 drove close enough to hit front of Panther. And I was luck to shoot first...but I choose token Missed and Red S letter. That mean Panther tank can move forward or reverse and shoot back before he shoot second time - that mean - he can shoot twice - first as fire back and second per Round.... And he choose worst token for me... Tank Destroyed...

Panther became my target but they can use STUG against my T-34/76 and Panther will try to hit RUDY tank....

On center field my last T-34 was selected by Panther and Tiger...

Target One RUDY...lost in Round One... hit my STUG.

I was less lucky and my target missed and German T-34 could drive on road fast enough and hit my tank (since token has S - Shoot Back).

He measured distance and there is a chance to hit my Sherman tank...

Token with P (PUDLO - MISSED....).. Still Sherman can fight... Because token had SHOOT BACK letter...

At least I was able to hit his engine and slow him down...

Panther missed and I was able to shoot three smoke grenades and advance with half speed....as we can see below...

Tiger Tank destroyed my T-34...

In Movement Phase I was able to drive on road forward  (two mount plates) and catch front armor of Panther...

German T-34 pick again my Sherman tank and I decide to select him as well...

I was shoot first...and missed (Ricochet with Fire Back....)...

He hit my Tank Track so I could not move until I throw dice with One or Six.
When I start my Movement Phase I throw One I was able to remove damage token from my Sherman...
David throw his dice and he fixed his engine...

Then he move forward and gave way for his Tiger...

Target selection phase - like you can see - not much to do... Can't fix my turret and only Sherman left on battle field.

Panther attack my T-34/85...
Sherman was hit engine again and I missed (I choose token with Missed and two smoke grenades).

Both tanks received another hits...

Germans hit my engine twice - which react as Tank Destroyed...

Summary... David still had two Panther tanks, one STUG, one P.IV and one Tiger...

My mistake was to have SU-100 too far away and because it is a low profile tank he could shoot only straight Line-Of-Sight hits...

Lesson learned..

Enjoy..
